Item Description
Painted LIVE Last Night "MOROCCAN NIGHTS" -- Dallas-based contemporary artist (uncle of Brookwood students Alaina, Cameron and alum Melissa Robie) JD Miller made an appearance at Brookwood’s MOROCCAN NIGHTS Event last night where he created an original oil painting to benefit the Parents Association. Guests watched the creative process unfold, from blank canvas at the beginning of the evening to completed 3-D oil expressionist work before the live auction began.

*** Also check out the HERON 2012 piece that JD created in collaboration with the Class of 2012. This piece was auctioned last night and has generously been donated back to the school. ***
JD combines painterly chromatic expression with a sculptor's physical application of paint to create multi-dimensional images on canvas. The result is an emotional explosion of 3-D sculptural oils, rich in light, form and color, which create a unique mood and signature ambiance.
His reputation has continued to grow as recognition of his 3-D oil technique has become widely acknowledged by both artists and collectors alike. JD presently works out of his studio located in Samuel Lynne Galleries, in the design district of Dallas, Texas, which he co-owns with internationally known restaurateur and fellow artist Philip J. Romano.
“After hearing so much about Brookwood’s awesome visual and performing arts through the years from my nieces, I’m excited to finally visit the school in person. Thrilled to be invited!” – JD Miller
Item Special Note
Limitations or special instructions:
• Frame not included. JD is happy to consult with your framer, if desired.
• Painting will be ready for framing by approx. mid-October 2012. The 3D oil needs about 6 months to dry completely before receiving a final finishing glaze. The Robies will be glad to store the painting until then, or winning bidder may take home, knowing the risk of smudging the sculpted paint. It may be hung while drying as long as there is no possibility of being knocked.
