Mademoiselle Chambon

A love story that has bewitched audiences and critics worldwide, Mademoiselle Chambon is an exquisite chamber piece that delicately captures the initial stirrings of romance. Vincent Lindon plays Jean, a burly and happily married housing contractor. One fateful afternoon, he picks up his son (Arthur Le Hou‚rou) from school and meets the teacher, a willowy beauty named Mademoiselle Chambon (Sandrine Kiberlain). Their flirtation slowly builds. Jean soon comes to a crossroads, having to choose between the intensity of his bond with Chambon or the responsibility and care he feels for his wife (Aure Atika) and child. A beautifully observed evocation of what it feels like to fall dizzyingly in love, Mademoiselle Chambon won the Cesar (the French Oscar) for best Adapted Screenplay.

The Magic of Melies

Decades before the term special effects was coined, audiences of the newborn cinema were witnessing spectacular screen illusions, courtesy of the medium's first master magician: Georges Melies. Such films as The Eclipse(1907) and Long Distance Wireless Photography(1908) not only demonstrate Melie's astounding employment of double exposure, makeup, editing and theatrical trickery but provide mesmerizing insight into the social context of his work, which blended Victorian approaches to astronomy, superstition and feminine beauty with the unnatural wonders of the 20th century technology and heavy doses of slapstick.

Nenette

Born in the jungles of Borneo, Nenette is a 40-year-old orangutan and the oldest (and most beloved) inhabitant at the Managerie du Jardin des Plantes Zoo in Paris. The latest film by legendary French documentarian Nicolas Philibert, Nenette is a captivating study of an enigmatic animal and our relationship to her.

El Bulli

A celebration of the human desire to turn food into art. For six months of the year, renowned Spanish chef Ferran Adria closes his restaurant El Bulli and works with his culinary team to prepare the menu for the next season. An elegant, detailed study of food as avant-garde art, EL BULLI: COOKING IN PROGRESS is a tasty peek at some of the world's most innovative and exciting cooking.
