This newly designed 10-mile circuit was constructed last year on the hills overlooking the town of Castle Rock and Pikes Peak. This tight course rips through Gambel Oak, Ponderosa and Pinyon Pine. Designed like Battle the Bear, the neutral aid station every lap provides excellent spectating opportunities and fast racing action.
Part of the Rocky Mountain Endurance Series
Rocky Mountain Endurance is pleased to announce the 2012 race series calendar. Featuring Marathon, Half Marathon, and Cross-country disciplines, each of our courses will test the stamina and consistency of athletes throughout the season. Join past champions and emerging competitors to compete for the title of RME’s overall series winner. Finishers in the top ten at each race receive points. Series Rankings will be maintained for the top 20 in each division.
Our races….
The Series kicks off in late April at Voodoo Fire, a rippin’ long loop of bluffs and sage encircling Lake Pueblo State Park in Southern Colorado.
Racers then head to Castle Rock in May for the Ridgeline Rampage: a tight, rolling 10-mile circuit through Gambel Oak and Pinyon overlooking Castle Rock and Pikes Peak. Newly designed last year, this course rips!
Two weeks later Lakewood hosts the return of the 10th annual Battle the Bear! We have united our favorite events and distances (including the marathon discipline formerly known as the Front Range 60) into one exciting day at Bear Creek Lake Park.
The fourth and most prestigious race of the Series is the epic Breckenridge 100, the B-68 or the B-32. These races begin and end in historic downtown and include demanding loops through some of Summit County’s beautiful high alpine trails.
The series concludes in early August with the PV Cycle Derby. The scenic Peaceful Volley Scout Ranch outside Elbert, Colorado hosts an unparalleled tour through prairie grassland and low hills of the Black Forest. Peaceful Valley is a remarkable venue where we will crown this year’s Series champions!
Our events include athlete gift bags, custom clothing, post-race meal, cold brews, awards party and podium prizes, a juniors’ cross-country series, free kids race, and convenient camping. We encourage competitors to spend the weekend at our scenic venues and enjoy the camaraderie of racers, fans and sponsors.
