Item Description
Alfred Birdsey (1912-1996), was a world-renowned watercolor painter from Bermuda. His work was used to promote the America's Cup race when it sailed from Newport, RI to Bermuda.
For much of the second half of the 20th century, he was the only modernist painter in the country. Self-taught, he started painting at the age of 16.
Mr Birdsey gave this signed lithograph to friends of TBHA when they visited his studio several months before his death. Collectors of his watercolors and lithographs, they were thrilled with the gift. We thank them for their generosity in offering this piece for our auction.
