About VCEVY STREKALOVSKY
A third-generation painter of Russian heritage, Vcevy graduated from Middlebury College in 1960, where he studied with noted Vermont watercolor artist Arthur K.D. Healy. In 1963 he received a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He has since studied painting with artists John Kilroy, Carolyn Anderson, Michael Lynch, Ken Auster, Ned Jacob and Skip Whitcomb.
Vcevy exhibits at Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, in Massachusetts at South Street Gallery in Hingham, Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Connecticut, the Copley Society of Art in Boston, and the Salmagundi Club in New York. He draws and paints primarily from life...rural and urban landscapes, seascapes, figures, portraits, still life, sports, wildlife and livestock.
He is president of Strekalovsky Architecture in Hingham, Massachusetts, and divides his time between there and Weybridge, Vermont.
“I try to paint the essential first impression of subjects that are within the everyday experience of the viewer, & hope to strike a common chord. My hope is that I have conveyed what I see & feel about the light, space, three dimensional form or personality of a subject with brushstrokes, color & value, & two-dimensional abstract composition.”
“Designing the relationship between forms & spaces in a building is not unlike designing the relationship between shapes in a painting – the goal should be an interesting visual journey.”
