“The Cowboy House” is the oldest home at Puakea Ranch, built by Plantation working families at the turn of the century. Zejiro Kawamoto lived in this home with his young wife after emigrating from Hiroshima, Japan. All three Kawamoto children, Yoshi, Masa and Thema were born in this charming Hawaiian Hale beginning in 1922. It was the heart of Puakea Ranch with much activity and laughing children. By the early 1940's the Kawamoto Family moved up the mountain a little further to the Puuhue Ranch section and this home became the bunkhouse for the Paniolo's, the Hawaiian cowboys working at the ranch. The Cowboy House has a long lanai with a separate doors leading into two of the three bedrooms. The open living space leads to the bright and airy kitchen with views to the garden. Over the years the separate cookhouse was attached to the long house or the front portion of the house. The country charm and simple details of The Cowboy House will take you back in time and invite you to slow down a little and just relax with family and friends. Sleeps 6
