The Berkshire Museum boasts a permanent collection of more than 30,000 objects that represent art, history, and natural science, from superb paintings from the Hudson River School to spectacular specimens of shells and minerals to a wide variety of decorative objects from ancient civilizations. This visit to the Museum’s Collections will offer the rare opportunity to see treasures from around the globe, many that are seldom on public view. While at the Museum, view the new exhibition Rethink! American Indian Art at Berkshire Museum, featuring contemporary artwork by Native American artists and historic objects from the Museum’s Native American collection. Advance reservation is required to schedule a mutually agreeable date for this exclusive tour. . The Berkshire Museum is the first public museum in Berkshire County, established by Zenas Crane in 1903 as a museum of art and natural history.
The Berkshire Museum’s mission is to bring people together for experiences that spark creativity and innovative thinking by making inspiring, educational connections among art, history and natural science. The Feigenbaum Hall of Innovation, Aquarium, Alexander Calder Gallery, and other exhibits are ongoing. Little Cinema is open year-round showing independent films and screening opera and ballet performances.
