Item Description
The "Nelson Veins" series of art glass were inspired by Dr John Nelson MD, PhD. of Centennial Imaging in las Vegas who is doing Haacke scans for CCSVI where Scott's wife, Carol was scanned.
Dr.Nelson explained how the veins contribute to the circulation of blood in a poorly understood mechanism. The heart, apparently, is not a sufficiently strong pump to be responsible for all the circulation. It gets things started, but could only get the blood a few inches on it's own. The arteries have muscle walls that contact, the chest wall expands and contracts with breathing and pushes blood through the veins but there are some models that medical physicists like himself are thinking about that include electromagnetic pulses that change the shape of the vein in a spiral motion. This could explain the failure of so many stents in the vein. An interesting concept.
Scott, was inspired by that story to create this series looking down the vein with a graphic expression of electromagnetic-spiral pulses!! each piece is unique. and signed by the artist.
Nelson Veins #3 is an 8X8 inch square but gently rounded dish of fused blue-on-pink art glass. The pink glass is made with 22K gold and has a soft gold glow when held up to incandescent light.
Photo coming soon. There are three blue spirals with iridescent lines.
