Item Description

Ever wonder where Lucky Horse Equine Rescue horses come from? Our rescues fall into one of three categories:

Urgent Rescues: Kill-pen horses, abuse & neglect cases and nurse-mare foals. Many are in the dealer/auction pipeline destined to certain death in Canadian slaughterhouses.

Surrendered Horses: Horses who need a new home as a result of financial hardship, divorce, sickness, etc.

Fundraisers: Horses that are generously donated to be offered as a LHER fundraiser with proceeds going directly toward helping equines in need.

The Humane Society of the U.S. estimates that 92% of the approximately 100,000 horses shipped to slaughter each year are in good condition and fully able to lead productive lives.

That's why, on a fund-and-space-available basis, LHER travels to sales/auctions several times a year to give as many of these desperate horses as possible a second chance for a happy, healthy, life.

Your $400 donation will be a "Get Our of Jail Free Card" for one special horse ... a horse like Jingles (see photo above).

We saved him from an auction kill pen last Christmas.

When you donate funds that go toward the costs to rescue a horse*, we will send you a picture of the horse YOU helped rescue. You can look at the gratitude in his face every day and know that you have made a difference. You'll be able to track his progress on our Facebook pages and rejoice with us when he is adopted into his forever home.

Donated By: YOU!

Item Special Note

*Please note: Kill-pen rescue missions are never planned very far in advance. But rest assured, YOUR donation will be used for an upcoming Rescue Misson to help cover our costs to save an "urgent rescue" horse. Hidden expenses in this process include the rescued horse's bail, transportation, Coggins test and sales tax, all of which can sometimes drive the cost of rescuing these horses higher than $400.
