Our kids got lice in 3rd grade and, after the recommended treatments didn't work, we knew there had to be a better way. Head Lice creates a huge stress for Moms and we invented the term "MLS" or "Mom Lice Stress". Head Lice are misunderstood, harmless human parasites and 

there is still a very strong social stigma associated with Head Lice in the USA. This adds to Mom Lice Stress. All of our parents have also had "Delusional Parasitosis". Your whole body itches, even if you don't have Lice.  Over 6 years we have developed a very effective lice removal technique that removes both the bugs and the eggs and prevents them from coming back.  We have seen families from all over New England,  We've learned that head lice are not in your house, bed, car, couch, clothing or hats.  So you can stop vacuuming, doing laundry, & bagging stuffed animals.  We focus your, and our, time instead on removing the eggs and bugs from your child's head.

I did my  Masters in Public Health thesis on Pesticides and Cancer.  When I became a Mom, and then a School Nurse, and saw how many chemicals parents were putting on their kids scalps when they got Lice, I felt that there had to be a better way.  Then I learned that the chemical pesticides used for Head Lice were not even working.  Almost everyone who comes to NitWits has already try Rid or Nix, or even the prescription treatments Lindane, or Malathion.  They still have Head Lice, so we know those chemicals aren't doing the trick.  Luckily we have learned how to effectively treat Head Lice without Chemicals.  Also I have developed a very informative DVD about the  social, political, military, and natural history of Head Lice.  This helps to explain where the extraordinary social stigma about Head Lice comes from.  We hope that through our education program parents can now have the right knowledge and proper tools to effectively and safely manage Head Lice in their communities.
