Item Description
Bear Description:
Talk about life imitating art. This bear wasn’t satisfied with simply being a canvas on which art was created, and decided that he wanted his own canvas to paint upon. The Artist’s face, paws, and feet are painted in a rich turquoise, his belly is white, and his neck is adorned with a golden collar. Meanwhile a golden geometric design covers his arms, back, and the back of his head and ears. Armed with a paint brush and palette, The Artist has just completed his own masterpiece which depicts a horse and bear within a geometric abstract landscape. Perhaps the bear in the painting is a self-portrait? Referred to as "Zenya" by her creator.
Artist Bio:
Juli Kirk grew up knowing she would be an artist. She graduated with a BFA and classical education from Boston University’s School for the Arts in 1982. She took the next twenty years painting expressionistically from imagination. In 2000, she returned to working from life and found her niche in painting portraits and sporting art. The galleries carrying her sporting art paintings on an ongoing basis are the Beresford Gallery in PA and Saratoga Springs and the Berkley Gallery in Warrenton VA. She has continued to experiment with the integration between a realistic and expressionistic interpretation of life during this time. Kirk is one of the ten returning artists from the 2009 Bear Fest.
