Item Description

Hare Creek Beach Cliff (Oil, 16.5"W x 19"H), Trish Orchard

Trish Alicino Orchard was born in New Jersey and grew up in the center of the Garden State with proximity to the ocean, country farms and bustling cities. Not coincidentally, these became just a few of the themes in her pastels and oil paintings. She initially pursued art while a student at Pratt Institute in New York. The existing job scenario led to a change of plans and a marketing degree from Rutgers University, followed by a 35 year career in advertising. After moving Pittsburgh, she received additional instruction at the Carnegie Museum of Art and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Orchard's paintings have been exhibited in national and international juried shows and her work is represented in various corporate and private collections.

Orchard now paints full time as a member of the Plein Air Painters of Mendocino and the Plein Air Painters of Pittsburgh, and is fortunate to find additional inspiration through her extensive international travels. She also paints in her studios in Mendocino, CA and Pittsburgh, PA. Trish Orchard is a featured artist in Artists of the Mendocino Coast, Volume 2 published in October, 2008 by Larry Wagner, and is represented by Koucky Gallery in Bokeelia, Florida. Her website is www.trishorchard.com.

"I am instinctively drawn to variations in light and the way atmosphere can affect color and form. My goal is not realism, but the depiction of a scene as it strikes me at a particular moment. Painting 'plein air' enables me to better interpret the effect of color, light, shadow and temperature in my work. The relationship between color and form is key, and the resulting images represent my emotional response to a particular place and time. My evolution to painting 'outside the lines' has freed my spirit to paint inside the mood."
