Item Description

Tulip Study #3 (Photography, 19.5"W x 26"H), Karl I. Wallin

"After a life long career as a professional photographer I was finally able to devote myself to taking photographs solely for my own pleasure. I have always enjoyed setting up subjects in my photography studio and this scene is no exception. This photograph was taken on film and I developed and printed it in my own darkroom. I liked the delicate coloring on the tulip and used a background I felt complimented the flower. I have since moved on to digital photography and embrace the versatility of the medium as well as the release from the confines of the darkroom."

Karl Wallin took up photography as a career after moving to California from Sweden. He specialized in portraiture, product photography as well as twenty years in underwater photography. He took up fine art photography after moving to Mendocino where he has lived with his wife, Jill, for the past sixteen years. His work can be seen at the Mendocino Art Center.
