Item Description
Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco (Photography, 18"W x 22"H), Jill Wallin
"In my travels through many countries in Europe I have always looked for scenes to capture on camera that portray a sense of time and place or a mood in the observer. However, this scene I discovered in San Francisco on a sunny day in Fall. I aimed to capture the warm sun reflected in the stucco of the building and the sense of Autumn in the colorful turning leaves of the tree in the foreground. I love the sense of an elegant time the Palace of Fine Arts portrays as a piece of San Francisco history from the 1915 Panama Pacific Exhibition."
Jill M Wallin was trained as an artist in her native England and took up photography after moving to San Francisco in the sixties. For twenty years she specialized in underwater photography. She and her husband Karl have lived in Mendocino for the past sixteen years. Her work can be seen at the Mendocino Art Center.
