Item Description

Monoprint, 17" x 19"

Apple Trio is a Monoprint.  Each color was printed individually, requiring accurate registration each time the print passed through the press.  Ink was rolled onto a Plexiglas plate, the plate wiped to reveal just the one shape/color.   The black lines were created on a separate litho plate and added to the completed colored image.  Inspiration:  Workshop with a Mexican Monotype/Monoprint artist.

Alice Nolan Merlone has studied printmaking at Southern Connecticut State University and the SMFA in Boston, MA.  Alice exhibits extensively throughout New England and her work is in numerous private collections.  She is the past President and current Exhibit Chair of the Monotype Guild of New England.
