Item Description
Six Vineyard Designate Magnums Zinfandel - Ravenswood Winery, Sonoma, CA
Included are six magnums of Zinfandel from the 1994 and 1995 vintages from the following vineyards: Dickerson, Old Hill (a limited edition) and Monte Rosso.
Dickerson Zinfandel: Cedar, eucalyptus and raspberry scents characterize the Zinfandel from Dickerson Vineyards. The vineyard is sheltered by the Mayacamas Mountains, allowing the long Napa growing season to build up full, round flavors in grapes. This is claret-style Zinfandel at its best - sumptuous, deeply aromatic wine with pungent flavors and a long lasting finish. The production was quite limited.
Old Hill Zinfandel “Of all Peterson’s Zinfandels, the wine that gets the highest praise is Old Hill Ranch ... a monster in aroma - blackberry and black pepper scents... A fascinating wine.”-Dan Berger / Los Angeles Times
This unique vineyard is an extension of the Oak Hill Organic Farm with 110-year-old vines. Scant tonnage - combined with the ideal growing conditions - produces exceptionally intense, spicy fruit. Old Hill Zinfandel is dark and rich with provocative flavors of black-berries, mint and black pepper. Unparalleled depth and complexity.
Monte Rosso Zinfandel: Monte Rosso is a wonderful old vineyard on Moon Mountain. Folklore in the Sonoma Valley dictates that planting red grapes in the red volcanic soils of these mountains will produce terrific red wine. The wine from this vineyard is a testimony to that wisdom. The nose of cherries, plums, leather, pepper and spice are a perfect introduction to the supple, round, full-bodied spicy flavors of Monte Rosso Zinfandel.
