Item Description
Mosaic Makers, Inc., is a new, not-for-profit community arts program. Our mission is to make art accessible to communities, families, and individuals using mosaics. We focus on low-income communities and special populations coping with violence, poverty, and trauma.
Working with tiles, broken plates, and pottery, Mosaic Maker's staff facilitate the creation of individual or group works such as mandalas, murals, mobiles, or memorials. Transforming shattered pieces into a cohesive whole is a powerful statement about perspective, resilience, and growth.
Mosaic Makers is staffed by two licensed social workers who have extensive experience with poverty and doing art projects with groups. In addition to art projects, we lead discussions with the participants about topics related to the project or the community, such as peace, leadership, trauma, and problem solving.
Our goal is to reach out to schools, community groups, domestic violence victims, children, teens, seniors, day programs, and church groups in order to create art projects.
