Item Description

Purrfect for kitty or howlingly haute for pooch: James Rixner pulls out all the stops for his one-of-a-kind canopied bed. Glamorous chartreuse is offset by cream complete with piping, box pleats, side drapes with tie-backs and removable cushion. Legendary fabrics house F. Schumacher & Co. provided the fabric for Rixner's work.

In the over 20 years of operating his own studio, Rixner has designed numerous high-end private residences, corporate headquarters and commercial spaces. He is a four-year alumnus of the prestigious Kips Bay Show House. His work was featured in the Tomes-Higgins Show House in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the Coe Hall Show House in Oyster Bay, Long Island, as well as the Hampton Designer Show House presented by House & Garden. He was also published in three monographs: “East Coast Rooms” by Anna Kasabian, “Show Houses: Signature Design Styles” by Stuchin and Abramson, and “Inspired High End Design” by Shane Reilly. In addition, his projects have been shown in Gotham Magazine, House and Garden, New York Living, New York Spaces, The New York Times Magazine, New York Times House and Home Section, as well as in Traditional Home. Mr. Rixner's Kips Bay room 2007 was used as a national advertisement for Stark Carpet, appearing in all major design and architecture publications such as Architectural Digest, Interior Design and Metropolitan Home.

Mr. Rixner is a professional member ASID, an NCIDQ certificate holder and also holds a New York State license as Certified Interior Designer. Former positions include the interior design divisions of Bloomingdale's, HLW Architects and Hinson & Company. He has also served as an instructor at Parson's School of Design and holds a masters degree in urban design from the University of Pittsburgh.
