Item Description
The locavore movement has seized Vermont, specifically the majestic portion of the state known as the Northeast Kingdom. Here local farmers, merchants, artisans, and mountain resorts alike provide quality products and services with a focus on sustainable and organic practices, embracing the farm-to-table mentality currently captivating the country.
This guidebook, written by Vermonter Bethany Dunbar, introduces readers to the Kingdom’s proud community and celebrates the bounty of its delicious products. In addition to compelling stories, useful listings, and interesting historical facts, Kingdom’s Bounty features photographs that capture the area’s natural beauty alongside intimate portraits of the families that thrive off the land. An introduction by acclaimed author and environmentalist Bill McKibben accompanies the book.
Bethany M. Dunbar is co-editor of The Chronicle, the weekly newspaper of Orleans County, Vermont, and a regular contributor of articles and photographs to New England Country Folks. Dunbar does a weekly live radio interview with WDEV about The Chronicle’s top stories and has appeared on Vermont Public Television news show Vermont This Week. She is a past president of the Vermont Press Association and serves on the board of directors. She currently serves on the advisory committee for Communications/Humanities for Community College of Vermont.
Bill McKibben is the author of Eaarth, Enough, Hope, Human and Wild, Wandering Home, The Age of Missing Information, and 15 other titles. McKibben’s first book, The End of Nature, was published in 1989, and has been published worldwide in over 20 languages. His books range in topics from global warming to local communities, genetic engineering, and family.
