Item Description
A collection of observations about the many dimensions of sustainable agriculture by Vern Grubinger.
Celebrating life's complexity, and with a dose of grace and humor, Grubinger uses Vermont's agriculture and culture as the setting for essays that gently challenge us to think a little bit harder about where our food comes from, how it is grown, and the many ways the issues of sustainability resonate in our everyday lives.
Originally done for Vermont Public Radio, most of these 80 short essays were aired from 1997 through 2003. They introduce the reader to farmers, educators, kids, chefs, consumers, and visiting Russians in stories that explore how we live, what we eat, and why our individual actions really matter.
Written by Vermont author Vern Grubinger: the director of the UVM Center for Sustainable Agriculture through 2006; vegetable and berry specialist for UVM Extension; coordinator of USDA’s Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program (SARE).
