Item Description
Sculpted by Peter J. Romano Sorrow Monk is made of polyester resin and plaster. It is 6 inches high and 7 inches wide and has a verdant cast to it. A wonderful piece for your coffee table or desk. You just have to wonder why he is so full of sorrow.
Peter J. Romano is a local artist from Parma MI. A larger version of Sorrow Monk was displayed in the "Art in the Eye" which was a sculpture exhibition created to help encourage tourism, support economic development for the Marshall area and promote interest in the arts in 2007- 2008. Seventeen sculptures of various sizes were placed throughout the Marshall downtown. The artists were all from the Midwest and eastern United States. Vee Kalnins and his "Art in the Eye" committee were able to obtain a commitment of support from such organizations as the Marshall Rotary, Marshall Main Street, Marshall Community Foundation, Cronin Foundation and private donations. The exhibition ran from July 2007 to July 2008. More information about the organizer and other local artists can be found at www.artintheeye.org
