Item Description
Conveniently located on a quiet dead end street between Historic Old Town and downtown, within walking distance of public transportation, bicycle and Segway rental shops, museums, parks, restaurants, live theater, movie theater, restaurants and more.
One of three vernacular adobes built by brothers in the 1930’s, this one was “duplexed” with the middle adobe and a complete remodel was finished in 2000s. Much of the original woodwork, ceilings and floors were kept to help retain the feel of the original home. A front sun room, bedroom, bathroom and utility room have been added and the kitchen completely remodeled to add comfort and modern conveniences. As with many vernacular adobes the ceilings at 7 ½’ feels low, the doorway leading to the bedroom and bathroom is a scant 24” wide.
We live in the adjoining duplex and share the backyard, fish pond and two cats - which do not have access to the rental.
The house has a private patio in the front. It's furnished with antiques and reproductions. The living room has a reproduction day bed that sleeps one. The bedroom has a queen bed. We have a feather bed that can be laid in the front room as a pallet. The kitchen is fully furnished with Wow! cabinetry and appliances.
Non-smoking. Free High-Speed Internet (Wi-Fi), 27"-screen player for DVDs and VHS. Full size washer and dryer. Off-street parking for one car.
We’re next to Manzano Day School, two blocks from the Central Ave bus route. Attractions close by include Historic Old Town, the Natural Science Museum, the Albuquerque Art and History Museum, the Botanical Gardens and Aquarium, the Rio Grande Zoo, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, Tingley Beach for fishing, and the riverine bosque for hiking and bike trails. Several moderately priced restaurants are within walking distance as is a full grocery store. We're close to downtown which has restaurants, galleries and bars, a 12 screen movie theater, a live theater, and the transit center – where you can catch the Rail Runner train to Santa Fe.
