Item Description
Private, one-hour in-home concert by Pantoum Trio: Tereza Stanislav, Assistant Concertmaster of Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra; Cécilia Tsan, Principal Cellist of Long Beach Symphony; and Steven Vanhauwaert, International Pianist.
Violinist Tereza Stanislav was appointed assistant concertmaster of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in 2003 by music director Jeffrey Kahane. Dividing her time among orchestral, solo, chamber and recording projects, Tereza has been hailed for her “expressive beauty and wonderful intensity” (Robert Mann) and her “sure technique and musical intelligence” (Calgary Herald)
As a founding member of the GRAMMY®-nominated Ens?? String Quartet, she is also active in the film scoring industry as a recording artist.
Born in Versailles (France) of Chinese musician parents, Cécilia Tsan began playing the cello at the age of five with the same teacher as her childhood friend Yo-Yo Ma, who was an inspiration for her. After being awarded her Baccalaureate Degree, she went on to study Philosophy and Chinese and was accepted as first in her class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where she studied under the direction of André Navarra. In 1976, she graduated summa cum laude, with top honors in cello and in chamber music. Cécilia is active in the motion picture industry and the recording studios in Los Angeles, having recorded hundreds of movie soundtracks with composers such as John Williams, James Horner, David Newman, Randy Newman, Alan Silvestri, James Newton-Howard and Jerry Goldsmith, to name a few. In March 2000, she was invited to the Academy Awards ceremony to perform a solo on stage with composer Randy Newman and singer Sarah McLachlan. For two years, she has been heard as Principal Cello of the American Idol Orchestra.
Hailed by the Los Angeles Times for his 'impressive clarity, sense of structure and monster technique', Steven Vanhauwaert has garnered a wide array of accolades, amongst which the Maurice Lefranc award, the Rotary Prize, the Galiot Prize and the USC Concerto Competition. In October 2004 he won the Grand Prize at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, which enabled him to tour through the US and Hungary. To date, Mr. Vanhauwaert has appeared in major venues with orchestras such as the Pacific Symphony, the Flemish Symphony, the Oak Ridge Symphony, the USC Symphony, and Prima la Musica, amongst others. In 2010, his first album with works by Schumann, Schubert, Liszt, Chopin, and Debussy, was well received in the press. His performances have been broadcast live on networks such as K-MZT, K-CSN, K-USC, K-PFK, W-HKB, W-UOT, K-UAT, W-FMT, RTBF, WTV, PBS, and KLARA.
