Item Description
Dan found inspiration for this painting from The Villages’ mission of championing children. He is always amazed at what they make happen on the behalf of children. Dan’s family has had the opportunity to get to know The Villages through his daughter¹s work with them as an intern as well as being able to support them through several of their events and programs. Dan truly believe that as long as The Villages exists there is a “Ray of Hope” for children in need.
In the painting, Dan used simple symbolic forms, shapes and colors that have something of a childlike quality, but provide a compelling focus to the subject matter. He used the image of the chair to represent a place for the child and though the surroundings of the room are desolate and melancholy there is hope and promise represented by the blue sky in the window and the warm beam of light that shines across the chair.
Biography: Dan has been a fine artist working in a variety of mediums for over 30 years. His work has been featured in a variety of juried exhibitions and is represented in private collections throughout the world. Dan has a BFA from The University of Michigan in design. Throughout his career he has focused his creative energies on both fine art, and design and advertising as a Creative Director for several design and marketing agencies.
