Item Description

Why not book this wonderful facility in the North Carolina mountains (near Highlands and Cashiers) for a 3-5 day vacation, family reunion, or snow skiing trip near by?

The Facility:
The 3 story, 4,000 square foot structure contains six bedrooms. The main living area is an open floor plan, with plenty of natural light and beautiful woods views.

The kitchen is furnished with state-of-the-art appliances including a gas range, large energy-star refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, and disposal.

The 12’ dining room table seats 14, with seating for 8 more at the breakfast nook table and kitchen counter.

A two sided gas fireplace provides warmth and visual coziness.

The spacious laundry room includes a state-of-the-art front load washer, energy-star dryer, wash basin, and counter top. Also included: Wi-fi, satellite TV, and treadmill.

The Surroundings:
Located near the end of an unpaved road deep in the woods, there is only one neighbor visible from the property. The 2.5 acre site borders the Nantahala national forest, so guests are treated to an unlimited backyard of woods, waterfalls, meadows, cliffs, creeks and trails - all the adventure nature has to offer.

In the yard there is a campground style charcoal grill for cookouts, and a fire ring with plenty of benches for nightly campfires. The “wild and scenic” Chattooga River is a 15 minute hike through deep woods.

This is a highly efficient, passive solar building. All windows are double-pane, argon gas filled and low-E coated, so heat transfer in or out is kept to a minimum. The main wall with most of the windows faces directly south to capture the sun’s heat in winter. Overhangs keep them shaded in summer. Construction is cutting edge: hollow Styrofoam block, laced with rebar and filled with poured concrete making it the strongest and most highly insulated wall available.
