Wisdom University is a graduate school dedicated to catalyzing personal and professional renewal within the context of granting academic degrees. All of our courses are also open to wisdom seekers interested in deepening their learning journey in a global community setting. Wisdom University offers full spectrum transformational programs designed to engage the multi-sensory student. These combine the best of e-learning and social networking capacities with in-person gatherings and pilgrimages. 1. Radiant Self-Care for Awakened Living 

Living An Empowered Life Through Optimal Health

The intention of this course is to empower our lives with more conscious choices for focused Self Care, building coherent foundations for a healthy body, mind, emotions and Spirit. A conscious commitment to self-awareness and to self-agreements generates power and a natural stability to live our healthiest choices in the present moment. In this sacred self-initiatory process we will learn to listen more closely to our intuition, our bodies and lives. Through applied life wisdom, we can facilitate natural self-healing, boost vitality and develop a powerful natural immunity supporting optimal health. Deepening our Self-Care enables us to be fully present with our vital interconnectedness with all that is, in order to forgive, to accept, and to live our birthright of a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

Drawing from the best in Integrative Medicine, and combining practices and methods from both conventional and alternative medicine, we will learn how to live more consciously in a way that is healthier, more radiant, self-generative and self-regulating. At the same time, we will learn to recognize the importance of transforming life-conflicting habits and patterns into a foundation for rejuvenation.

2. The Great Books of the World’s Wisdom Traditions

Overview

At the heart of the world wisdom traditions are books that distill the essence of the teachings of the masters down through the ages. Many have no authors, some are compilations over long periods of time, others reflect teachings of masters who themselves never wrote a word. Socrates and Jesus never wrote any books, for instance, but Plato wrote his Dialogues recalling his memory of what Socrates said and the Gospels recount the life of Jesus many decades after Jesus hadgone. Other books like the Tao de Ching and Bhagavad Gita have legendary authors but appear to be compilations heavily redacted over many centuries. Some books are considered “God’s word” such as the Bible or the Koran and have endured for millennia inspiring countless millions of believers. Others, like the Zohar, remain obscure. Still others, like Black Elk Speaks, express the essence of a tribal tradition on the brink of extinction and are valued for what is on the verge of being lost. Great books continue to be written by individuals alive today.

Jim Garrison has been studying the great books since childhood as the son of a missionary to China and Taiwan where he was able to delve into eastern spirituality, particularly Buddhism and Taoism. His double Masters degree in the History of Religion and Christology at Harvard and his doctorate on a Jungian analysis of ancient Judeo-Christian apocalyptic literature at Cambridge enabled him to study the great books across the spectrum of Axial religions and wisdom traditions, both ancient and modern, particularly those of the Greco-Roman civilization and western intellectual thought.
