Item Description

Wooden Mexican cross from Nahua people of Guerrero hand painted with fanciful village scene. A beautiful addition to any home.

This unique gift item is donated by Picante Designs.

The amale artisans from Morelos and Guerrero, Mexico are renowned for their delightful paintings, originally on amate tree bark. They speak ancient Nahuatl as their first language.

Today this centuries-old folk art form is transformed using pine wood, to create timeless, hand-painted heirlooms featuring fanciful scenes of village life, including rabbits and chickens, pueblos and plantings, fiestas and harvests.
