Item Special Note

Lori Shepler through her webpages (www.facebook.com/lorisheplerphotography) and www.facebook.com/citythekitty  shows the Light and The Delight of being close friends with a cat in a way that few people have shown us before. In fact, Lori can tell better than most, the healing magic and inspiration that a cat can bring to your life, and the lives of families and friends in a ripple effect that is really the fur ruffle effect!

Lori is one of the mainstays of American Photography, both in terms of power and grace, through her 25 years at The Los Angeles Times: covering everything from disasters, to the most celebrated artists of our time, to the hottest celebrities, to the Los Angeles Lakers. Lori's preceptive eye as you see is always in rhythm with the subject and always just ahead of her time, as each unforgettable image takes in place in the archive of who we are now.

But, as  many of us have experienced: Lori was let go by the very paper she had done powerhouse work for; and was wondering the next project, the next call, the next project that would  focus her camera, and make use of the skills and the work ethic she had honed. As re-invention has become the major job skill our time, Lori was an artist on the threshold, waiting.

Little did she know that within a short time after the pink slip, a much different color was about to summon her to a new and more exciting creation than she had imagined.

Showing up at her door within weeks, was a special new friend, indeed a special new son had arrived. A Manx-Bengal kitty, with a remarkable short tail, and thumbs, and the big, dynamic personality and charisma to rival some of the Superstars Lori had captured on film. It was a little boy kitten, who was fixed but had seemingly been lost or abandoned by someone somewhere and needed home and mom. This time, Lori became fully engaged with both her heart and her camera. She was fully captured: this little kitty whom she named City The Kitty was about to join the parade of portraits that Lori had graced us with, and take his own center position.

Because, as you can see on her facebook site listed above: City the Kitty is Mr. Performer, with a host of irresistable cat schticks that are all his own, and that he has invited the whole world , through facebook, to identify with him and his graceful antics with pure fun and love, and to launch him his own fanclub.

So, as the as the holiday season begins its fine snowcover around all the yelling of politics, and home and hearth mean as important and simple a thing as the love of family and our precious pets: the Ideal Gifts that will outlast the latest disposable cellphone and the latest giftcard for some temporary trend: One Thing you always find in every house and apartment around the USA and indeed around the world, are the photos and the art that showthe precious pets in our lives.
