All of our trips offer beautiful places to swim, fish, and picnic, and an abundance of amazing wildlife to enjoy such as turtles, osprey, otters, wild ducks, 3 types of herons, deer, fish, and eagles.
Trip #1, Rio (Class I)
Check In WEEKENDS: 10:30am - 2pm / WEEKDAYS: 10:30am - 1pm. Check In on weekdays can be earlier upon request.
Length is 5 miles, with 2-3 hours casual paddle time. A perfect choice for families with younger children, or those who want to arrive later for more leisurely day. Very scenic with a little less current, yet plenty of wildlife and places to swim and play. The last mile and a half of this section is backed up by the Memorial Beach Dam, so expect a less current and a little more time at the end of your run. The trip ends at River’s Edge Beach...where there is an attendant and various services for your convenience. Class I + current.
Reservation Recommended
Please use your canoe trip any day through November 2013 (weather permitting) and includes shuttle ride, parking, paddles, life jackets, and a little instruction if needed, from the friendly and enthusiastic staff.
An ideal family outing, or a perfect weekend trip with out of town friends.
Item Special Note
Reservations required. Subject to availability, river flow and weather. Call River's Edge at 1-800-345-0869 for more information. Box lunches available, or bring your own cooler! No non-swimmers please.
