Item Special Note
Artist's Statement: I am influenced by natural forces and often make references to the motion of the planets and other celestial bodies in my work. At the time of this painting "Dark Moon," I had observed a "super moon" one evening. The moon appeared to have a reddish cast and was obscured by clouds. The other force acting in my work is gravity. While painting, I actively employ the pull of gravity in conjunction with my bodily force and gesture to create the shapes and veils of paint on the canvas. Painting in this manner allows me to feel a certain connection to nature in a general and also the limitation of the materials in play.
