Item Description
How often have you thought I'd like to sit down one on one with the president of the Glaucoma Research Foundation? Now you may! President Tom Brunner, with his wife Wallace, will host you and a guest on the Napa Valley Wine Train for an afternoon of wining and dining.
The Wine Train travels a rail line built in 1847 by 49'er millionaire, Samuel Brannan, to take visitors to his "resort" Calistoga. The excursion is three relaxing hours, a 36 mile round-trip between the historic town of Napa through one of the world's most famous wine valleys to the quaint village of St. Helena and back. Passengers enjoy views of the vineyards and winery views from any of the vintage 1915-1947 Pullman Dining, Lounge or Vista Dome Rail Cars which have been lavishly restored beyond even their original decor.
Menus feature such scrumptious choices as grilled salmon served over pappardelle pasta and sautéed spinach in Champagne ginger cream with crayfish cake, roasted green peppercorn encrusted pork with sautéed chard and fried plantain in pork cabernet with cranberry apple chutney or roasted beef tenderloin with gorgonzola cheese & cabernet red onion marmalade in a red wine shiitake mushroom sauce. And that's not all- each course has a recommended wine!
Rated one of the 20 best railway experiences by The Society of International Railway Travelers, the Wine Train leaves from 1275 McKinstry Street in Napa, California. Station check-in is at 10:30 AM, and the train leaves the station at 11:00 AM, and returns at just about 3:30 PM. So if you've longed for an opportunity to be entertained and delighted by Glaucoma Research Foundation's enterprising president, this is the auction item for you.
