Item Description
Three Reading Tutoring Sessions.
The first session would consist of an assessment of your child's phonemic awareness and phonics skills. The subsequent two sessions would consist of lessons that were based on the results of the assessment.
The lessons are only suitable for children age 4 and up who read at OR BELOW a second grade level, and who who do not have behavior problems that interfere with tutoring. For 5 year-olds she will substitute an extra reading lesson for the assessment.
Christine is a certified reading specialist with an M.Ed. in Reading Education, and a B..A. in English. She has trained on 3 phonic methods: Phono-Graphix, Lindamood, and Orton Gillingham. She works with beginning readers and remedial readers. She incorporates games, toys, and students' own stories into her lessons for a child-friendly approach.
Item Special Note
Winner of the Auction must contact Christine within 2 weeks after the Auction ends. All lessons must occur within 5 weeks after the date of the Auction. One parent may observe all three lessons. No other adults or children may be present. All sessions occur out of Christine's home in Roslindale. There is a cat in her home so this item would not be suitable for anyone allergic to cats.
