(1) Pass for 2 People to a screening of any regularly scheduled film at the Loft Cinema.
Celebrate your love for great independent cinema with someone you care about! A movie at the Loft Cinema is no ordinary date night.
The Loft is a nonprofit, community-supported cinema that honors the vision of filmmakers, celebrates ideas and promotes the appreciation and understanding of the art of film.
The Loft Cinema is Tucson’s premiere venue for art films - independent, foreign, alternative and classic narrative films and documentaries.
Since The Loft was purchased in 2002 and transitioned into a nonprofit arts organization, the cinema has hosted more than 100 filmmakers and scholars and screened films from more than 50 countries.
The Loft hosts two free film series: the Tucson International Children’s Film Festival in July, and Essential Cinema, a series of classic art films on the big screen in new 35mm prints. The Loft also offers 3 programs to support local filmmakers.
The Loft has received many honors since its transition to a nonprofit arts organization. It has been named Best of Tucson by the readers of the Tucson Weekly every year since 2002. The Loft received a Lumie from the Tucson Pima Arts Council in 2005 for Emerging Arts Organization.
In 2007, the Arizona Commission on the Arts noted that The Loft is “one of the most important cinema organizations in the state."
In 2008, The Loft was one of 17 mission-driven, community-based cinemas in the US invited by the Sundance Institute to join its Art House Project. The selection was based on quality of programming and involvement with the community.
Without the efforts of The Loft, audiences in Southern Arizona would not have had access to many of films and visiting filmmakers who have enriched and enhanced Tucson’s cultural identity.
