Item Description
Master glassblower, Harald W. Eberhart, has created a neon/argon Pyrex glass sculpture known as the phoenix or fire bird. This sculpture operates on low-voltage radio waves 60kz 14V/1 amp. This energy source excites the atoms in the gases to give off light for years. This incredible marriage of physics and art also responds to touch with the light dimming and appearing to move. The first picture shows this sculpture when it is on in the dark. The second picture shows the sculpture off and in the light. Eberhart is a second-generation glass blower, who began apprenticing under his father, Wolfgang R. Eberhart, at the age of 14. The elder Eberhart was one of the worlds most renowned scientific glass blowers and was one of the youngest Master Glassblowers to graduate in the history of Austria.
