Item Description
This is a private dragon boat cruise for a group of 15 to 21 people, offered by the Berkeley Racing Canoe Center in the Berkeley Marina.
The modern dragon boat is a close replica of traditional Chinese river boats. The BRCC boats are 48 feet long (not counting the ornamental head and tail) and propelled by 20 paddlers, a steersperson and a drummer.
You and up to 20 of your closest friends will experience the efficiency and power of a large human-powered boat as you tour the marina and (weather permitting) the nearby Berkeley, Albany and Emeryville waterfronts. The cruise can be planned to take from one to three hours. Kids and dogs are welcome, no paddling experience necessary.
Schedule and route are subject to the weather, availability of volunteer BRCC members to steer, and the team's practice schedule. The boat is home ported in the Berkeley Marina on M-dock, across the street from Adventure Playground.
Details about dragon boats and the Berkeley Racing Canoe Center are on the web at www.BerkeleyDragons.org and www.DragonMax.org.
