Item Description

Bio

Dr. Charles Schroeder received his B.A. (Psychology and History) and M.A. (Psychology) degrees from Austin College and his doctorate (Education, 1972) from Oregon State University. For over two decades, he served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer at Mercer University, Saint Louis University, Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Missouri–Columbia (MU). In 2001, he was appointed a Professor of Higher Education in the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis Department at the University of Missouri.

Following his retirement from MU, Schroeder became a Senior Executive in charge of retention services at Noel-Levitz, from 2004-2006. He recently completed a one year appointment as Interim Vice President for Student Affairs at North Georgia College and State University. He currently serves as a part-time Senior Associate Consultant for Noel-Levitz specializing in retention and student success strategies and interventions. He has assumed various leadership roles in the American College Personnel Association. He is the founder and Past-President of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation and a recipient of the Esther Lloyd-Jones Professional Service Award. He was also named a Senior Scholar of the association and served two years as ACPA President. In 2001 he received ACPA’s Contribution to Knowledge Award.

Item Special Note

Time Frame of Service Offered

Two day consultation focused on improving retention and graduation rates, student engagement, and best practices in facilitating student success. Other formats such as additional breakout sessions and consultations may also be offered and negotiated between the Speaker and the campus.

Type of Audience 

It is preferred to provide the Speaker with a multi-school conference or professional association conference where a diversity of colleges or organizations is present.  Single campus events, staff presentations/training or conferenceare to be negotiated in advance prior to bidding if possible.

Scheduling

All speaking engagements are to be scheduled within 12 months of the close of each Showcase and payment made to the Foundation at the close of bidding or upon invoicing (unless other arrangements are made in advance with the ACPA Foundation Treasurer.) Conversations about availability and scope of the services are encouraged between potential bidders and the speakers in advance of the Convention if possible.

Travel Expenses

An additional $500 is payable directly to the Speaker for travel expenses and/or as otherwise negotiated by the university directly with the speaker.
