Friderike immigrated to the US from Germany in 1981. Her work with photomontages is usually text-based--'translating' poems or other writings into images. Set in historical or contemporary settings Friderike's work is motivated by a desire to open new perspectives on great works of literary art and is primarily concerned with issues of justice and the consequences of exile and emigration.
