Item Description
A Lebanese dinner is at its best a group activity, because with a table full of people you can order a proper mezze - an array of appetizers that can be a prelude to dinner or dinner itself - mostly served in charming, handmade pottery bowls. The Lebanese Taverna, which opened in 1990, is a Washington institution, known for its friendly service and fantastic Lebanese cuisine. The taverna fronts on Connecticut Avenue, which makes its patio a favorite spot in pleasant weather. Inside, the dining room's domed ceiling and soft lighting gives it the feel of an inner courtyard. Lebanese music plays in the background and mouthwatering smells emanate from the wood-burning oven, where pita breads and appetizers bake. The wealth of meatless dishes will delight vegetarians, while rotisserie items, especially the chicken and the char-grilled kabobs of chicken and shrimp, make this a perfect place to please everyone.
