"Porch, Peaches, Pantry" is a 24"x 24" framed oil on canvas by Maine artist Louise Bourne.
"I am a painter living on the Blue Hill Peninsula of the Maine Coast. My paintings are responses to stunning experiences of color and light. I love the gestures, the geometry, light on skin, and, as always, how color shifts given a light condition. The color progressions, inside and out, of a specific old, island house, with its residents, feed another body of work. The presence of a figure implies a narrative. I enjoy the tension between this narrative and the formal needs of the painting, of working from direct observation and from memory. Nature calls our attention like a magnet; I try to make my paintings have a similar pull, not as description, but as visceral experience."
