Item Description
"Gears: Vertebrae" is a sculpture made of welded steel by artist Nathan W. Plourde. Part of a three part series with Scalpel: Iris and Wreckage: Seed. Measurements: 7" width x 13" length x 7" height.
"This sculpture is a study in form and word association. It was created in a series of pieces
exploring the nature of language. The title is comprised of two words, the first being unnatural
and technological in nature, the second word relates to a naturally occurring biological structure.
This is to draw allusions between technology and biology, reinforcing the notion that Biology is a
type of technology."
-Nathan W. Plourde
