Groundworks Farm, owned and operated by GDS Alumni Kevin Brown '05, is a sustainable, year-round diversified CSA farm located in Pittsville, Maryland. Groundworks Farm offers CSA farm shares to members in DC and Northern Virginia as well as Annapolis and on the farm. CSA (or Community Supported Agriculture) is a model that is growing in popularity. A CSA provides a direct connection between a customer and farmer. Members sign up at the beginning of the season and receive fresh produce, eggs, and meat from the farm all season long. Groundworks Farm offers shares delivered to Alexandria, Arlington, and Annapolis. The CSA runs for 24 weeks from June-November. Vegetable Shares and Egg Shares are delivered weekly and Pasture-raised and Grass-fed Chicken and Meat shares and a local cheese shares are delivered monthly. This auction item entitles the purchaser to one Summer Vegetable Share for the 2013 season which can be picked up at any of our distribution locations. The vegetable share is a weekly supply of sustainably grown produce from our farm in Pittsville, Maryland. Each week Shareholders are greeted with bins full of fresh harvested produce. Our CSA is market style meaning you fill your bags with the items you want each week and never have to take anything that you will not use. While some items may be available in abundance and subscribers are free to take as much as they can eat, other items may be limited to a few per share. The share is designed to feed a household of 3-5, depending on how many vegetables you consume. Additional shares (Egg, Meat, Chicken, and Cheese) may be purchased separately.
