Item Description
This hand made, lidded jar was thrown and trimmed on the potter’s wheel using fine porcelain. It has been fired in reduction to cone 10 (2,382 degrees Fahrenheit), finished in a glaze developed by the artist.
Item Special Note
Aaron Winston has a Master’s of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. While there he began studying a traditional Japanese method of throwing porcelain. After several years of study, and upon finishing his degree, Aaron moved to San Diego and worked with an industrial designer developing a line of porcelain service pieces for the restaurant, Alinea, in Chicago. In San Diego, he apprenticed and became good friends with, Master Potter, Kouta Shimazaki. After coming to Boulder 7 years ago, he first volunteered and then began teaching at the City of Boulder Pottery Lab. There he has the good fortune to teach ceramics to students ranging from 4 to 95 years old.
Aaron’s pottery and prints are in a number of collections both public and private.
