Item Description
You are bidding on Two (2) tickets to Aurelia Thierree & Victoria Thierree Chaplin: Murmurs. Performances will take place from July 24th to July 28th, 2013 at Gerald W. Lynch Theatre at John Jay College.
Created around an enchanting performer who moves with grace and is as elegant as they come, AureliaThiérrée’s “Murmures des Murs” (Murmuring Walls)is a dreamlike rumination on mortality and moving on – the way our memories intertwine with the places in which we live, the walls we surround ourselves with, and how little we leave behind. The non-linear, mostly wordless story begins with a woman forced to leave her home by an official so it can be demolished—at which point a variety of dream/nightmare sequences ensue when she falls asleep amongst the packing boxes. As mysterious grey masked figures circle, Aurelia dips into a dressing-up box and climbs up and through the houses, shedding skins and bubble-wrap, encountering fantastical monsters, dance partners, and moving men along the way. Filled with visual trickery, quick costume changes, disappearing staircases, circus artistry, dances in the air, and so much magical sleight of-theatrical hand—all trademarks of both Aurelia and Victoria Thiérrée Chaplin—her collaborator and mother, who created and directs “Murmurs”—this work is a spectacle for the eye and a provoking fantasy.
