Item Description
"Color on a Grey Day" is a 13 3/8" x 11 3/8" framed oil painting by Washington artist, Melanie Thompson.
About the Artist
Melanie Thompson is an artist living and working in the Tri-Cities, a metropolitan area in south eastern Washington State. Known for its wine, sunny weather and sagebrush, the arid eastern side of Washington is Melanie's primary artistic inspiration.
As often as possible she paints directly from nature, or en plein air, allowing her paintings to capture the freedom and beauty of the wild places of the Pacific Northwest.
Thompson’s connection to the outdoors began in 2007 while working as a wild land firefighter. Watching fire behavior, digging in the dirt, hiking all day and sleeping under the stars in the rugged wilderness gave her an appreciation for the fierce beauty and power of the natural world.
The experience inspired her to immerse herself in the wild lands across Washington, Oregon and Idaho – painting along every hike. Each of Melanie’s landscapes finds the essence of those brief and sublime moments when one is unhindered by duty or obligation and simply present in a beautiful world.
