Item Description
This gorgeous, unique, pot is 7 1/2 inches tall and was created by Jane Brodwyn.
The pit-fired pot is connected to a wonderul lineage in the history of ceramic vessels. It was created in a way similar to those made 3000 years ago in the Americas. These pots have been burnished and fired in a "pit" made of cinder blocks. The heat for the firing is created by building a roaring fire directly on top of the posts. Once the fire has burned for a short time, the "pit" is then covered and the pots are left to "cook" overnight. In the morning, the pots are unwrapped to reveal their unique coloration. Every pot is beautifully different.
Item Special Note
Because these pots are not glazed, they are not water tight. If you'd like to place fresh flowers in the pot, slip a glass or plastic liner inside to hold water.
