Experience the magnificent wildlife and savor the local culture of Africa with a 6 day / 6 night journey into the Zululand and St. Lucia / Sodwana Bay Marine Reserve area of South Africa. Professional game rangers will guide your exploration of majestic African creatures such as the elephant, rhino, buffalo, hippo, giraffe, the secretive leopard and cheetah, and the shy Nyala antelope.  With over 40 different species of animals and 400 species of birdlife, the privately owned 4500 acre Zulu Nyala Reserve will inspire.

Each day you will be guided on two game viewing activities in open game viewing vehicles on the Zulu Nyala Game Reserve and be treated to three meals at the reserve's restaurants.

Your accommodations will be in the Zulu Nyala Game Lodge, the Heritage Safari Game Lodge or in Luxury Hemingway-style tents, originally built for the filming of, "I Dreamed of Africa." 

The Zulu Nyala Game Lodge is perched on a hilltop inside the Zulu Nyala Private Game Reserve, the elegant stone and thatch lodge offers a haven of elegance and comfort to retreat to after your day’s activities. Tastefully decorated to pay tribute to Kwa-Zulu Natal’s magnificent cultural heritage, the Game Lodge features panoramic views from many common areas and 52 fully air-conditioned, ethnic styled suites.  After your daily adventures, bask by the poolside in the African sun and then top off the day with refreshing cocktails from the comfort of the lodge’s balcony as an African sunset unfolds. If you’re in the mood for some well-deserved pampering, luxuriate in one (or several) of our expert spa treatments, from hot stone massage to facials.

The lodge has tennis courts, a craft and curio centre, a games room, a bar and reading lounges to ensure there’s always something to do. With panoramic views from the deck and dining area, you’ll enjoy delicious, leisurely meals with the opportunity to compare notes with your fellow guests on your sightings and experiences.

The Heritage Safari Lodge was originally built in the 1940’s as a hotel, and was a landmark pit-stop for weary travelers between Lourenço Marques and Durban. Acquired in 1996, the gracious building was lovingly restored to its original colonial grandeur, enhanced with new accommodation, and tastefully themed to highlight Zululand’s unique cultural development.  With buffet-style meals in our restaurants, the wide, welcoming verandah and our ‘human watering hole’, the pub; the warm and relaxing atmosphere is conducive to shared good times and conviviality. The sparkling pool is always inviting, and you’re sure to enjoy browsing our beautifully stocked curio shop for a few authentic African memoirs.
