Item Description
Up for bid is this sheet of "Be Thankful You Can See" poster stamps originally designed for the BLIND AID DRIVE launched by The Lions in March 1946. Under the direction of Lion Dave Clements, Jr., the project involved mailing thousands of letters soliciting public support. A sheet of slogan stamps, "Be Thankful You Can See", was included asking for a $1 donation with a request to use the stamps on the back of outgoing mail. It was not meant to be a fundraiser, but rather to serve as a way to increase awareness about vision loss. The stamp shows a young girl watching TV and a man who is blind accompanied by his guide dog.
