Item Description
Carolyn Johnson, Emmy award winning co-anchor of ABC News in San Francisco, is offering a unique opportunity for a student interested in learning more about broadcast journalism. One lucky Menlo student will join Carolyn for a news studio tour and shadow experience. The winner will shadow Carolyn during her work day and activities will vary depending on the developing news of the day. This experience will include an opportunity for the student to try out the green screen or sit at the desk and read the teleprompter. A family member is welcome to come along to document it. The student will also have an opportunity to watch one of Carolyns broadcasts. Carolyn Johnson is the co-anchor of ABC7 News at 4, 6 and 11 p.m., Monday through Friday. Carolyn's industry recognitions include a 2009 Emmy Award for best evening newscast. She's also been honored as best reporter by the American Women in Radio and Television, Golden Gate Chapter. Carolyn has won a Service to Children Award from the National Association of Broadcasters, the Eugene Block Journalism Award for Outstanding Coverage of San Francisco Human Rights Issues, the John Swett Award for Outstanding Locally Produced Education Series, the Arthritis Foundation Media Award and the Hero Award from the Neuropathy Action Foundation. She's also been recognized by RTNDA for her news reporting.
