Seeing Eye graduate Michael May, totally blind at age 3 from an explosion of calcium carbide, grew up believing he was lucky to be blind and still alive. Mike competed in the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics where he broke the world record in downhill speed skiing for the B1 Class (person who is totally blind) with a speed of 65 MPH. Currently, Michael is a leader in the field of advancing technology and mobility for the independence of people who are blind and visually impaired. He has been a pioneer in new product development since 1980. Michael has also worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, Bank of California, TRW, and Arkenstone.
