Item Description

Every wildlife enthusiast wants a Robert Bateman print to grace his or her office or home. The high bidder on this item will his print entitled, "The Air, The Forest and The Watch,” a work that Bateman described:

The Air, the Forest and the Watch was painted as a celebration of Earth Day.  My subjects, the atmosphere, the trees and the bald eagle, were chosen as symbols of issues that require our commitment to the preservation of our planet." - Robert Bateman

Born in Toronto, Robert Bateman has been a keen artist and naturalist from his early days, but it was not until the early 1960s that he developed the style that would make him one of the most renowned wildlife artists of our time. Since his first one-man show in 1967, Bateman has held numerous sell-out exhibitions in Canada, the United States and Great Britain, most of which received record-breaking crowds.

His honors, awards and honorary doctorates are numerous, and he has been the subject of six films. Two books of his art, The Art of Robert Bateman and The World of Robert Bateman, have made publishing history, selling more than a half million copies. A third book of his art, Robert Bateman: An Artist in Nature, focuses on his work both as a painter and a conservationist.
